How it All Began

Updated: Nov 9, 2022

Hello, and welcome to Awesomesauce Vintage Shop! I’m so glad you’re here as I have so many unique, one-of-a-kind finds to share with you. But first, here’s a bit more about me.

My love for vintage pieces is heavily influenced by my parents. Growing up, they were modern and stylish people with a deep love for all things old. Often on Sundays after church, we’d wander around antique shops and thrift stores as a family. We’d snag great furniture, kitchen items and artwork. I may have grown up in the 1980’s, but my world and home was made up of beautiful items and memories from the early 1920’s-1970’s.

This Vintage Culver Empress Decanter Set with Lowball Glasses was given to my parents as a wedding gift and remains in our family today.

As I grew to be a bit older, my love for vintage items remained. I can recall when I was 13 or 14, I set off to find a new bedroom set. I searched my favorite local spots and found two of the most amazing pieces of furniture I’d ever seen in my young life. I showed my father with stars in my eyes! He said, “Well, that is not a bedroom set, but it is great.” We brought the unique bench from Africa and a gorgeous curio home and I still have them today.

One of the only times I remember getting in trouble as a teenager was when I skipped school with a friend to check out a garage sale. I certainly don’t condone breaking the rules, but it was definitely worth it because we scored some of the greatest vinyl records available!

These memories remind me of the thrill and joy that comes with experiencing vintage items. Today, I’m living out one of my mother’s dreams by owning a large historic home. I have shared this 1921 home as a quaint bed and breakfast with travelers from all over the world. My vision was always to set up a small shop of antique items for guests to enjoy and purchase. However, when the pandemic hit, everything changed.

What was supposed to be a phase three of my business plan, opening up a vintage shop, got pushed up due to COVID. I always wanted to own my own vintage shop, so I decided that there was no time like the present to actually make that dream come true. I opened up AwesomesauceVintShop.Etsy.com in November of 2020. The shop took off considerably faster than I ever imagined it would! Every single item you see in my shop was hand selected by me. All items must…

  • be something that I personally love

  • be of high quality (although, nothing is perfect)

  • be vintage (as early as 1800 and as late as 2001)

Whether you are searching for Art Nouveau, Art Deco/Mid-Century Modern items, a unique selection of items can be located in the shop! Shop it here.
